CLASSICAL INTERIOR STYLE

Bedroom Design

Classical interior design is a blend of both Greek and roman interior design. This design basically deals with perfect symmetry, balance and order.  Giving your interiors a classical look means bringing them much closer to the earlier period when interior designs like Rococo, Victorian and many such were in trend.

It is a refined style, elegant, where classic forms and details are found in a new approach. Classic spaces are often built around a focal point, like a bed or a feature fireplace that forms the centre around which visual balance is achieved. In addition to the mirrored setup, classic design is characterized by natural colours, elegant fabrics, and natural flooring made in wood, stone or marble. . Finishing parts are in a new approach-painted and varnished, with different and innovative colours, surface gold, and silver, finished with polish. Columns and other classical architectural elements are key in the style’s interior and exterior architecture as well as furniture designs. The klismos chair – a bowed back open occasional chair with sabre legs – is the most enduring classical furniture piece.

Essential Elements of Classical Style Design

Order, Symmetry and Balance: Order symmetry and balance are the key features of classical interior designing. If you have at least one mirror in a room make sure to balance it with another. Also, keep in mind to continue some features of one room to another. Do not decorate every room with a different style altogether, this will surely lead to asymmetry.

A Focal Point: A large mirror, any wooden statue, a beautiful piece of wooden art or a beautiful wooden table can act as one of the focal points. Keep in mind that when you are creating a focal point, thus other accessories in the area should be in accordance with it.  For example, a featured fireplace flanked on either side by matching armchairs with an ornate mirror above can help you give your room a classic look.

Natural Colors and Materials: Classical interior design styles are basically inspired by nature. Shades of yellow, blue, green and brown, even some softer muted colours such as terracotta, grey and pink are very much in trend. When going for whites if you wish to have a more authentic classical look try and go for off-white but if you wish to give your interiors a contemporary feel chooses bright white.

Elegant Fibres: Classical style itself represents elegance. While selecting the classical fibre keep in mind that they are not overly ornate or attention-grabbing. Velvet, canvas and cotton are the fabrics basically used in classical interior design. You can complement it with wooden, stone or marble flooring that goes well with the classical environment.
